The following individuals are the main characters seen in Carron.
Tomochi is the protagonist of the 2011 story and in the upcoming visual novel. As both media took place in his perspective, we never got to see how he actually looks like. Based on his physical description of the old character list in the Weebly homepage, he has brown hair. Though in the first Carron story, it was mentioned that he has purple hair. This was retconned and corrected in later revisions. His name is also Tomochi Akaruku in the original stories.
In the original story, he is a 16-year old and he is seen living on his own, living with Shimo Kagura occasionally. He is seen as slightly immature and somehow he gets random flashbacks with little to no explanations why.
However, in the remake, he and the rest of the characters were aged to their 20s and Tomochi is given a new backstory. He is depicted as a 26-year old adult who recently got fired from his job, and he has no choice but to stay at his old hometown again. There he started rediscovering things he used to love before and he met old friends again.
Shimo is pretty much considered as the deuteragonist of the 2011 story and in the upcoming visual novel. She is Tomochi's childhood friend who is 2 years younger than her.
In the early concepts, her name is Min and she's depicted with blue hair. Later in 2011, she was renamed as Mikoto and her design and old name was given to her younger sister.
She didn't appear much in the original story of Carron as RoboticDreamz decided to focus it mostly on Aya. But even so, her character is pretty much established already and this was just further explored in the remake.
Much like Tomochi, she was eventually aged up to her 20s and she's now a college student. Though she still mostly stays at home with her sister Min.
Min is the little sister of Shimo and she is known for her childish yet determined personality. Despite being a supporting character in Carron, she is considered the main character in the story spin-offs, particularly the Halloween story.
She was originally Shimo during the concept stage of the story and she was supposed to be one of the main heroines aside from Aya, but later in the final concept, it was changed and she was reduced as a supporting character.
In the remake, she's eventually aged up just like the rest of the characters and she is seen to be jobless, similar to Tomochi. However instead of wallowing in misery, she enjoys her life and she goes around town doing something helpful and productive.
Aya is a mysterious girl and pretty much the titular character of the series. She is known to appear whenever church bells ring.
Way back in 2010, when the idea was still being made, her name is Ayami and it's already made clear that church bells are her main motifs. But when Carron was finalized in 2011, her name was changed to Ayano as RoboticDreamz didn't believe such a name existed. Her original name was reverted in the remake.
Her background is pretty much mysterious and she's quite unreliable as she has the tendency to tell tall tales, especially concerning her life. The only thing that's true with her is that she's from Kyo Street. One of the oddest things about her is that almost everyone knows who she is.
Amiya is Aya’s cousin who often works as her body double whenever she gets into trouble. In the original story, her name is Ayaka, but this was changed to Ayami as an indication that she's Aya’s counterpart.
While Aya is considered mysterious, Amiya has no identity of her own and she's constantly plagued with loneliness. She sees herself as nothing but her cousin's shadow, constantly saving her from whatever trouble she got herself into.
